La Fortuna

May 27, 2008

On Saturday May 24, 2008 the CDS Concert Band went to perform to the Fortuna. On Saturday we had to be there at six forty five in the morning so we could leave at seven and the traffic would of not make are trip longer. We had to load up all the instruments so all the things could of fit because the choir group was also going to perform in the same place so the bus was completely full and all the place we went the choir went so it made the trip a lot more boring. The trip was about three and a half hours long but for me it was longer because we were watching the worst movie ever Hairspray which I had to see it because I couldn’t sleep. We stop in a small shop to buy snacks and go to the bathroom. We then arrive to a restaurant to have lunch and then go and play the concert. The concert was in the main park of the town called La Fortuna. The park had a small church a garden and a small place were you play concerts. The concert started at  one o’ clock. First the band played five songs and then the choir sang five songs and then we finished the concert with two songs. The choir concert wasn’t as successful as the band because since it was out doors people couldn’t hear what they were sing so the concert wasn’t very good for them. When the concert was over we had to load up all the instruments again. Then we went to the hotel were we had a lot of time to go the pools. The pools were the best part of the trip with there slides were awesome. There were two big normal pools with there slides and like six and one big hot pools (hot springs). We couldn’t stay longer at the pools because there was a big thunderstorm so we couldn’t stay at the pools. At the night we just went to the same restaurant we went for lunch to eat dinner. The next day we had breakfast and then went very fast to the waterfall. The waterfall was great we got in the waterfall which was great because it was cold and the day was very hot so it was just perfect. When we left the water fall we went to the hotel to take showers and go back to San Jose. This trip was great.

Mexican National Soccer Coach

May 20, 2008

The Mexican national has had many serious problems in getting a very known and experiment soccer coach. The last coach the Mexican team had was Hugo Sanchez. Hugo Sanchez was one of the greatest players that Mexico would ever have. He played in the Real Madrid  we he won many cups. He then decided to retire and come to live to Mexico and do something with soccer so he decided to go and coach the Pumas ( a Mexican soccer club). He went to coach them without even studying what coaches need to do and create a new career for him selve. He stayed there for three year and made the Pumas twice champions in a consecutive way. Then the third he was fired from the club. A few years later the Mexican soccer federation fires the National Mexican coach which was Ricardo La Volpe. This was a error because this coach did an awesome job, but he got fired because he lost the World Cup against Argentina a great soccer team this was an error for me. The next year they brought a new coach Hugo Sanchez. He did a very poor job with the soccer team because he didn’t have any experience coaching soccer teams. I mean before you coach a club in Mexico you have to find better clubs but not just coach the national team. I think Hugo needed more experience and more time coaching to go to the national team. He was fired because of bad results. There’s a big problem because the playoffs to qualify to the 2010 World Cup starts in June so Mexico doesn’t have a soccer coach because the Federation thought that Hugo Sanchez would of done a good job and qualify to the World Cup, but that didn’t happen. Right Now there trying to hire a coach. They tried Aguirre a Mexican coach, but he said no because he has qualified to the best club tournament on Earth a its his only chance to experience the championship for first time as a Mexican coach. The other options are Sven-Goran Erickson which is the most experience and most probable option. Another options are Jose Pekerman, Marcelo Lippi, and Filippo Scolari which all of them have great curriculum’s and are the only chance to direct the Mexican National soccer team.

Copa Libertadores

May 14, 2008

The Copa Libertadores is a championship played by all the south American teams and they invited three teams from Mexico to play for the championship. This week they are playing the quarter finals and two Mexicans teams continue in the fight which is very awesome because they never get to far. In Wednesday May 14, 2008 Atlas from Guadalajara, Mexico will play against Boca Juniors from Argentina. Boca is the favorite team to win the championship so its going to be a very interesting game because this year they both played against each others twice. The first time was in their groups they played in Argentina and Boca defeated Atlas three to zero,  but later tBoca went to Mexico and Atlas beat Boca three to one. This indicates that there’s going too be a very interesting game. Another fact is that Boca Juniors against Mexican teams has one five games, one draw, and six defeats. This tells us that Boca has a hard time playing against Mexican teams. A good thing is that Boca is not playing in their famous stadium which their they are undefeated, but now they have to play in another Argentinian stadium that both teams don’t know the stadium very well. The stadium called Bombonera is closed by the Conmebol because people where throwing a lot of garbage to the visitants which the team got penalized with there stadium. The Conmebol is the federation of soccer in South America. In the other hand America from Mexico City is going to play against Santos from Brazil. America is favorite in this game because they beat a Brazilian team Flamengo in a incredible and miracle game. This was because in Mexico Flamengo defeated America four to two, but in Flamengo stadium they lost three to zero. This was a miracle because to beat a Brazilian team in the stadium Maracana three to zero is very difficult. This way America past to the quarter finals playing against Santos. I hope good luck in there soccer games to the Atlas and America.

Manuel Antonio Trip

May 11, 2008

The 8th field trip was in Manuel Antonio. The field trip was three days and two nights. The trip started on Wendesnday May 7, 2008 when we left the capital city of Costa Rica. It took about one hour and half but it took longer because the bus didn’t work so we stayed there for about 30 minutes waiting till they fix it. When we arrived to a park called Turubari we ate breakfast and then we got divided into three groups of activities people that what to do canopy, superman zip-line, and horseback riding. I chose the superman because I had never done before. When we got to a tour that was approximitely 100 meters tall everybody felt scared because you went face the bottom which was scary at the beginning. Many people went before I went so I waited a lot. When it was my turn I got a little scared but after they pushed and went down the rope I didn’t felt nothing I was enjoying the perfect view. After that we took a long hike and then went to have lunch. When we left the park we went to Manuel Antonio we arrived there till seven thirty. When we arrived there we had dinner and went to our rooms to relaxe and take showers and to sleep. The next day we left in the morning to have dinner in a restaurant when we finished we went to a river to go water rafting the river was very long and was a lot of fun. I think this was the best part of the trip.  We stop some where in the rivers and went to a beautiful water fall we stayed there for thirty minutes and swimed. After rafting we ate lunch and went back to the hotel that was about two hours away from the river. When we arrived we went to the beach and had fun. Some people were taking pictures, others playing soccer and american football. When we left the beach we got prepared for the nights fashion show of are t-shirts of Lord of the Flies. When the fashion show was over we went to our rooms and went to sleep. The last day we when to the national park of Manuel Antonio to do community service and then have time to go to the beach. Then we went to have lunch and prepared to go back to San Jose. We arrived to the school at six pm. I think this trip was the best trip of the whole Middle school.

T-shirts Project

May 1, 2008

In literature class of 8th grade we are making shirts form a book called the Lord of the Flies. The shirts are a very important project because they count as a test so you have to put a lot of effort into them so you can get the best grade you can. In the shirts you have to put a minimum of  eight quotes from  the book that represent symbolism of the book. In the shirt you have to draw the symbolism and be as creative as you can be so your grade can be better. The qoutes where the most difficult part of the project because we had to do many process with them. Like flip the text so when we iron the people could see what the quotes said. This tooked about an hour because some quotes didn’t fit so we had to them box by box and that made it more difficult. Another challenge was that we had to fill the shirt for a 90-95 percent so that made us think more and how to be more creative in how to fill the shirt so it look nice and not messy.  A big challenge was we  had to read the whole book in two weeks so we could find quotes for the shirt.  At the end of the project I really enjoyed trying another project because we always get to do the same project every time so I get bored. This project was a fun and challenging project because we got to make different things with a shirt  and make it as nicest as we can. I hope in the future we can make another fun project like this one because this was one of my favorites project of the whole middle school. The cool thing of this project is that in our 8th field trip to Manuel Antonio we are going to make a fashion show to see who has the nicest shirt. I think there is going to be awards for the first, second, and third places. In conclusion I think this was the best project of the whole 8th grade year.
