Freedom of Speech

What is freedom of speech? What does this mean to you as a blogger?  For me freedom of speech means that you have the right to say what you want to say. I also think that it is very important when students laugh at a very bad statement or question you say in the classroom because then it causes the person affected to never try to talk or participate again in classes. This happens because they don’t feel comfortable or do not have the liberty to talk the way they want. It is also very important to receive respect when you have the right to speak. Freedom also means to be free or have liberty on things you want to say except for bad words. Freedom to me as a blogger means that I could write whatever topic I want and not getting criticizes or get laughed by people. I cannot write whatever topic only the ones that do not affect people religions or cultures or personalities. Freedom also helps you defend your self when you have problems with speaking up for your religion or your personality. Freedom of Speech to me also means that you have your own right to say what you wish to say however you have your own risks with the words your saying. I also think that you have the write to chose and speak up for your religion. You also have the right to write in your blog about your self by having your own consequences. In conclusion freedom of speech is very important in today’s world.

    Hey noel!
I totally agree with you. I think that to be able to have freedom of speech you need to have the other’s people respect and be able to do things without getting laughed at. When this happens, you don’t feel like if you have freedom of speech because they criticize you and you don’t want share your things again. I had never thought about freedom helping you defend yourself but I can understand your point. If you feel that you don’t have freedom of speech, its harder to speak up for yourself. Great job!

I agree with you that people need to respect what you write even if they disagree. I know that if someone laughed at my opinion I wouldn’t want to express myself again. When I blog I like to feel free to express my point of view with whatever I have on my mind, don’t you? Even though it may be controversial, I still feel that I have the right to write what I want, just as long as it isn’t insulting. Like you, I also wouldn’t like getting criticized or laughed at for my opinion.

Oh yeah, and I read about your experience for the baseball tryouts. Congratulations!
    Keep up the great work.

I agree with you and I also get your point when you say that we do have freedom as long as we don’t offend others and we don’t say bad words. We all have freedoms but we also have some limits to those freedoms. If we all had complete freedoms without any limit, people could have their feelings hurt as well. Also, freedom of speech is very important so that people can express their selves freely without being laughed at, like you said. You had very interesting points in this entry. Keep up the good work!
